A Letter To The Citizens of Queen Anne's County

Dear Queen Anne's County Resident:

Fighting crime as your State's Attorney is my top priority; it always has been and always will be. I ask that you re-elect me so that I can continue to serve the law-abiding citizens of Queen Anne's County in the vital job of prosecuting those accused of crime. In our society, the State's Attorney's Office is the avenue of public justice for victims of crime and the partner of police agencies in protecting the safety and security of current and future citizens.

Queen Anne's County has continued to be one of the most peaceful regions in Maryland during the 16 years I have served as its State's Attorney. But as the County grows, I understand that the State's Attorney's Office needs to respond to the changing times. My job will become full-time following this year's election. I look forward to that change. Also, I am pleased to report that the County Commissioners have agreed to my request for another full-time attorney's position in the 2002-2003 fiscal year. Finally, the State's Attorney's Office will soon be moving to a new and bigger office in Centreville to better accommodate the larger staff and our victims services. All these changes will provide me with the opportunity to devote my undivided attention to applying the extensive experience in criminal prosecution I have gained during my 21 years in the State's Attorney's Office.

I have appreciated the opportunity to serve four terms as State's Attorney on behalf of the citizens of Queen Anne's County. I enjoy the job; I keep it free of politics; and I'd like to keep up the good work for another term.

Sincerely,
David W. "Chip" Gregory
Queen Anne's County State's Attorney
